This striking Ferris wheel lit up for the first time last month, and the company behind it, Merlin Entertainment, has big plans for its future.
Depending on the day, the Ferris wheel will be lit up using different colors. For example, on Christmas the wheel may be red and green, and on Memorial Day it could be red, white, and blue. There are hundreds of options to choose from, but people who are actually riding on it may have an even better view than onlookers. It takes 20 minutes to go around the entire wheel, and it offers people a complete 360-degree view of the city.
With the Ferris wheel taking full advantage of LED technology, the company expects that they will be using 92% less energy than they would otherwise with ordinary bulbs. This is great news, because it’s just another example of the benefits LED lights provide. We hope to see LED lights used in more Ferris wheels and other types of entertainment in the coming years.
