Light Therapy in the Home

We’ve known for years that light can largely affect the way our skin works and functions well. The more light skin is exposed to, the healthier it tended to be, unless it was exposed to UV light which then had different wavelengths that were harmful and others that were helpful. Still with the proof of some sunlight being good for the average person, multiple attempts had been made to see what kind of effects LED lights could have on people at different wavelengths.

Well in a few recent tests a new face mask called the Illumask, used violet frequency wavelengths of light with LED lights built in to soften and reduce signs of wrinkles and aging all together from the skin. In the few trials that were done, every person came back showing significant loss of signs in aging, especially with lines around the eyes and mouth.

Of course this Illumask is not the first to try and produce light therapy, we actually see light therapy being used in a number of doctor’s offices for the past decade, but only with this mask are we seeing a method for people in the home to use light therapy themselves, and at a reasonable price of only thirty dollars. A number of versions for the mask had been made as well, including one using red wavelength light to help combat problems with acne and other breakouts.

This could signal further investigation and scientific studies around light therapy for people’s skin. The effects seem to be true though, and maybe LED light truly can usher in an age of people enjoying life with healthier and fitter skin. For now, we can only wait and see what further health benefits light therapy just might bring, and what products could pop up from it.
