Happy 2014 from the lighting experts at Illuminations USA!
As we’ve discussed in previous blog entries, 2014 is poised to be a huge year for LEDs all over the world as cities in the four hemispheres are embracing LEDs like never before, making over streets, public buildings and homes and applying a bit of LED makeup.
Take the United Kingdom, for example. They are in the process of installing LEDs into 149 multi-floor parking garages. The nation has hired Future Energy Solutions, a Hollywood-based lighting company. The deal is close to upward of $40 million! That is some serious money there. Then again, this isn’t an overnight project, as around 60,000 lighting fixtures are being switched over to LEDs. It will be a process, but is well worth it; the LEDs will save 65% on electricity costs.
Doreen Hemlock of the Sun Sentinel sums it up best: “The deal underscores a worldwide push by big users of energy to cut their bills, with LEDs among a variety of more-efficient lighting options gaining ground. Sales of LED lighting products for commercial building markets alone are expected to grow from $2.7 billion in 2013 to more than $25 billion in 2021, according to a recent report from Navigant Research.”
Clearly, LED use will only grow around the world. It can be argued that the globe is in the throes of an LED revolution and just like any revolution, such as the Industrial Revolution, the world will never be the same.
