Some Cities Switching to LED Streetlights

At Illuminations USA, we offer a wide range of services, including exterior outdoor LED lighting for your residential or commercial property. And while we’ve already explained the many benefits that go along with switching to LED, you may be wondering why more places aren’t already using this technology. Well, it looks like in many areas of the country that may be beginning to change. In addition to having LED lights on your property, you may soon find that the streetlights in your neighborhood are powered by LEDs as well.

That’s exactly what is happening in Warren, Michigan, where city officials recently announced that the town would be converting all of their streetlights to LED throughout the next few years. In total, this plan will replace more than 6,000 lights with LED bulbs. And while the project is estimated to cost around $2 million, the city estimates about $500,000 will be saved per year in energy costs, which means the investment will pay for itself fairly quickly.

With all of these benefits and more, we expect to see several other cities following suit over the next couple of years.

Does you city already use LED lights, or are they planning on converting any time soon? Let us know! And for your personal LED lighting needs, make sure you contact the team at Illuminations USA to learn more about our services!
