The world of lighting has been on an LED kick for some time now, and with each new month, we see new kinds of lighting pop up that are really just old lights re-invented. This includes the most recent reveal of the LED-parking garage light. This LED light is meant as an alternative to the rather large metal fixtures that are used throughout parking structures for lighting. The new LED light mounts are just as large as the previous ones, but offer ways of replacing the bulbs with ease and providing different kinds of sizes and shapes for different needs in parking structures.
The new fixtures can range from eight to fifteen feet and provide a thousand times more watts than the previous regular garage lights did. Among Hollywood, it was always common to have barely lit parking garages be a location for seedy crime, and that’s because it does mirror what happens in real life. Parking Garages have been dimly lit since they were first created, and we now have the chance to light them up better like they should be.
Unfortunately, many of these LED lights are unlikely to be installed anytime soon in old parking structures. They are more likely to be used in new ones that are being built still. Most companies don’t want to bother with the new installation, despite these LED lights saving about 72% in energy requirements over the previous parking garage lights, while also doing their job to light up a parking lot much better.
Hopefully more of these areas that are outdoors will be picked up for expanding on better lighting. Already we have seen cities replacing their poor lighting from street lamps with LED ones. And it just makes sense to.
