Changing Moods with LED Lights

The science behind just what lighting can do to our mood has been shown time and again. We know fluorescent lights can cause things like headaches and eye problems for people, especially when they are exposed to them all the time. But what we never realized as we started putting LED lights in place of these fluorescents, is that we can actually pull off incredible changes to people’s moods and happiness by changing colors and intensity with LED lights.

From interior design knowledge, we know certain colors affect people. You don’t want red in a kitchen because it upsets people, and can actually put people off their appetites unless in small doses. Well the same thing goes for lighting. We do everything by lights and that means lights affect us just as much as a color on a wall. Especially when you can manipulate the colors of those lights as well.

LED lightingOf course further study and information would need to be conducted, but there is something we do have perfect proof on. We know LED lights can mimic basic sunlight to the point that plants can actually perform photosynthesis off the light from it. We also know that when office lighting is actually sunlight rather than artificial light the workers in the office actually feel better and do better throughout their day. So just by having LED lights on that are mimicking the intensity and color and power of sunlight, we can still improve performance of workers and make everyone feel better inside.

And that’s not even bringing in what kind of mood effects we could have with making lights into light blue, or bright red. Still, that’s just yet another bonus when it comes to installing LED lights, on top of things like energy efficiency and more direct control and interface. And if anything we definitely need light that is going to help improve health in America.
